I adore The Big Salad... I have never had lunch/dinner IN at this location, but each and every time we carry out, it's been impressive to say the least. The salads are HUGE and I'm a big fan of the Baja- I always get my dressing on the side- and I order extra. It's just THAT good!! The ingredients are always super fresh- and the lettuce doesn't taste bagged at all. It is a tad pricey, but if you see the bowl size (which doesnt seem overly large) and then empty it- it's a HUGE salad, plenty of leftovers. Love it, will continue to go again and again even though I've moved from the area!

I love the Big Salad on Mack Ave. First, the staff there is very friendly and seem to be happy to be there. It's clean, they play nice jazz, and they have a couple tables out front. On to the food: I haven't tried all their salads, but their sandwiches are excellent and their chicken noodle soup is some of the best I've had. As other reviews have mentioned, it is pricey, but it is a quality product.

I had some big expectations after reading other reviews and was super excited to try. The menu is up on the wall and they have salads. Sandwiches, soup, and other items. The staff was friendly and it's the only reason why I'm giving it two stars instead of one. I ended up getting a Cobb salad and chicken tortilla soup. The moment I saw them grab avocado from a prepackaged vacuum sealed bag I started to get worried. Next she grabbed a whole boiled egg, some tomatoes that looked a little to ripe, lettuce, and a bunch of bacon and turkey. While everything was going in the bowl I was wondering how she was going to cut the egg and avocado. She basically pulled out what looked like a pizza cutter and started to mash my salad ...... I was just in shock I have never seen that before. After she was done she mixed in the dressing and dumped it onto of a plate. I was in the mood for some chili so I tried ordering that and basically the only soup they had left was chicken tortilla soup. So I ended up ordering a cup and wasn't to thrilled about the cost of it. I began eating my salad was immediately dissatisfied with the taste. The avocado tasted bland and old. The tomatoes were on the border of being rotten. The soup wasn't much better. Super salty and such a small amount for the price. Oh another thing that made me go wow and not in the good way was that on their tex mex salad they took a bag of Doritos and crushed it and poured it over the salad.

The Big Salad was a big letdown. I was really excited to try this place. I've been wanting to try it for years. Last week, I got my chance. I really can't recall which salad I tried; I just remember apples and wilted lettuce. If the name of your place includes the word salad, forgive me if I feel your lettuce needs to be fresh. It was a very quiet Sunday afternoon with no other customers present...maybe the management decided not to bother with having quality ingredients?

One of our favorite spots to hit in the GPW area. Quaint, clean, atmosphere with lots of salad, soup, and sandwich options. I usually score the pick a pair combo tuna sandwich and big baby salad with tomato basil soup and end up with a happy belly! Price is a little stiff but it's worth it.

I figured with the name big salad that the salad dressings would be homemade. I was so disappointed to realize that my salad dressing was coming from a can!!!!!!!! Totally bummed out!

Staff was very friendly and quick to make the food. Prices may be a little high, but the food was excellent.

I was very impressed with this place. Large selection of food. Everything was great, and fresh. Staff was terrific. Place is clean. Total potential to pop this place up in more locations. I loved it!

I don't often eat healthy, but when I do, I head for "The Big Salad", ;) ... friend to grazers & meat eaters alike, the menu offers a pleasant variety of soups, salads, beverages & sandwiches/wraps. Choose from one of their Classic, Signature, Specialty, Gourmet salads or build your own with up to 7 toppings from their many offerings, :). The soups are outstanding and I highly recommend the chicken chili. It's small, does get busy & parking on Mack Ave. can be a challenge, so plan ahead, but definitely worth the trip! They do offer carry-outs and recycle everything, so not only do you get an outstanding meal & customer service, you can feel good about yourself as well, :). Two thumbs up!

The Big Salad is a good fast food alternative, though it's still fast food. It can be a little pricey once you add meat but has good portions. The quality of ingredients can vary -- lovely lettuces, veggies, nuts, and legumes; okay dressings; over salted slightly spongy meats. The soups are hot and tasty. The service is fast and cheery. We are happy to have this place close by!

This place is awful. The only reason I gave it two stars is the service is friendly. The dressings taste like bottled (which they are, I asked) and the lettuce isn't very fresh. I got a salad with grilled chicken and the chicken was frozen! It's obviously precooked freezer chicken. It's just not worth any price to eat here.

Went here for the first time after hearing my co-worker rave about the place for the last couple of weeks. Walked in and noticed it was packed so I knew we were probably off to a good start. I had already ordered my sandwich before I saw them really making the salads.. The huge variety of toppings and completed salads look awesome.. You tell them what you want to add to your salad and they load it all up in a large metal bowl. After all your toppings are added. They then chop it all up and put it in a smaller (but fully packed) bowl. Ended up ordering an Italian Sandwich.. It was pretty good.. The place is a bit pricy but I still like the concept of the place.. Next time I'm in there, I will definitely try the salad out..

An amazingly fresh place to eat. Everything is out in the open, and viewable. You can see what is being added to your food and you can customize ANY sandwich, salad, or wrap! The pick-a-pair is great for the indecisive person. I personally like to turn their salads into a humongous wrap. I LOVE the Alaskan King as a wrap. A tad pricy, but I'll deal with it due to the amazing taste and freshness.

The Big Salad has quickly become one of my go-to places for a quick lunch. - Another great find that I have to thank Groupon for! It's a little pricey, but the portions are huge. Even their single entree salad spans both lunch and dinner for me. So far I've had their Cobb, Baja and Asian Chicken Salads. All of them were fantastic, but maybe a little dressing-heavy for my taste. I'll probably get it on the side from now on. I want to try one of their sandwiches, but a new salad calls my name every time I walk in. I know it seems cliche to describe the food at a salad joint as "fresh," but that's really the first adjective that comes to mind. Every ingredient has been top-notch. That's saying something for an establishment that carries 30-some salad toppings to choose from. Each salad comes with a warm roll as well. Even my little fellas - who wouldn't touch a salad if you put gummy worms in it - love going here because they think the employees are "happy people." Great place.

got the Groupon , HOW MUCH DO WE LOVE GROUPON?, and my salad was great . I don't know about other people but I liked the salads . with the location and the fare I knew what to expect , money wise, but I was pleased with the selection and the taste . it was fresh , great combinations , great dressings , friendly staff . A salad is a salad in my opinion . So NO i can not see spending the money for a salad lunch everyday but I did enjoy it , and I will return from time to time , mostly for the dressings which I want to steal , mimic and then improve and take credit for inventing :)

So much promise. So little delivered. Great decor and helpful staff. Pretty good menu selection as well. I just wish the salads tasted fresher than a bagged salad from the grocery store. Some details: 1. Salads come in three sizes. For the most part, non meat toppings are included in the price. I believe the smallest salad comes with limited non meat toppings. Meat is extra for every size. Healthier meats carry premium prices. 2. A pretty tasty piece of bread comes with the salad. 3. Usual selection of beverages. 4. The salads are made fresh, so allow extra time if going at lunch. Expect to spend $10-15.00 for a salad, excluding drinks.

Obviously I went into the BIG salad thinking about the "big salad" from Seinfeld, but alas this was not the case. After seeing this place under construction for several weeks before they opened I dreamed it would be a place that would offer delicious salads, a nice alternative to sandwich shops and fast food. While you can create your dream salad and have WHATEVER you want on it there is a cost. I ordered the smallest salad and a fountain drink and walked out with $10.26 less than I walked in with. Which, if you ask me is a little too steep for a mediocre salad.

Great Concept!!! Staff is delightful. Store appears to be very sanitary. Good selection. Price seems high. HOWEVER If I had to have all that stuff in my own kitchen, it would cost a fortune & go bad long before I want to use again. That said, they made me choose what I want in my salad. OK. But staff "chopped" it until it turned to mush. I could not tell what I was eating. I will try it again. Salad for lunch or dinner is a great option. But, other than the full chicken breast, nothing ... lettuce, beats, garbonzo beans, artichokes ... nothing needs to be pulverized. Also, my small salad could have fed THREE people. Just me folks! What's now in my frige is a left over that will feed the disposal by Thursday. Give me less. Charge me less. Maybe I should drive to Wendy's on old 8 mile Road.
